Ravindra Chavan comes from Kokan region of Maharashtra. With its abundance of nature Kokan is a gem from Indian ecology perspective. He knows the value of ecology and sustainable growth. He is guardian minister of two important coastal districts of Maharashtra Sindhudurg & Palghar. Both the districts are eco sensitive coastal districts. With blessing of heavy rainwater, kokan needed small ecologically friendly dams and tiny bridges to connect villages. He has taken a big initiative to construct 200+ SAAKAV (a tiny bridge) in entire kokan region to keep natural waterways intact.
